 Rule No : 1

“How we see God is a direct reflection of how we see ourselves; we don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are. If God brings to mind mostly fear and blame, it means there is too much fear and blame welled inside us. If we see God as full of Love and Compassion, so are we.”

“Most of the problems of the world stem from linguistic mistakes and simple misunderstandings. Don’t ever take words at face value. When you step into the zone of love, language as we know it becomes obsolete. That which cannot be put into words can only be grasped through silence.”

“Intellect and love are made of two different materials. Intellect ties people in knots and risks nothing, but love dissolves all tangles and risks everything. Intellect is always cautious and advises, “Beware too much ecstasy,” whereas Love says, “Oh never mind. Take the plunge!” Intellect does not easily break down, whereas love can effortlessly reduce itself to rubble. But treasures are hidden amongst ruins. A broken heart hides treasure.”

❤️ The Fourty Rules of Love ❤️ (Book review)

 The Forty Rules of Love is a novel written by Turkish author Elif Shafak, The book was published in March 2009. It is about Maulana Jalal-Ud-Din, known as Rumi and his companion Shams Tabrizi. This book explains how Shams transformed a scholar into a Sufi (mystic) through love.

ഒരു പാട്‌ പേർ ഈ പുസ്തകത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. വായിക്കണമെന്നുളള ആഗ്രഹം ആ പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവിലേക്ക്‌ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുവാൻ എന്നെ സഹായിച്ചു. വായന തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ മുൻപോട്ട്‌ പോകുവാൻ കുറച്ചു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടി, പിന്നീട് ‌റൂമിയും, ഷാംസ്‌ തബ്രീസിയുകൂടി ഏതൊക്കെ ലോകത്തേക്ക്‌ എന്നെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ പോയി എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാൽ... എനിക്ക്‌ വാക്കുകളില്ലാ അതെഴുതുവാൻ... 

അത്രക്ക്‌ മനോഹരമായ, മാനുഷിക മൂല്യങ്ങൾക്ക് ‌പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്ന, സ്നേഹം എന്ന ലോകാത്ഭുതത്തിന്റെ അന്തസത്തയിലേക്ക്‌ നമ്മെകൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ പോകുന്ന ഒരു വായനാനുഭവം... 

It just took me out of my box where I was unsecured by lots of agony, rejections, traumatizing experiences, pride, jealousy etc. 

I found Love is unconditional through this book… 

I found how can I radiate Love without expecting anything from this world through this book….

I found how can I treat people who’s unsure about my existence and my personality through this book….

After all, how can I connect to God through the purest existence of Myself….

Where I never thought I would find Me…

A Debute anthology of poems by Sumi Anirudhan...

ഈ പുസ്തകം ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുടെ ജൈത്ര യാത്രയാണു.... ആ യാത്രയിൽ അവളുടെവൈകാരിക നിമിഷങ്ങളായ പ്രണയത്തേയും, വിരഹത്തേയും, വേദനയേയും, അവളുടെസ്വപ്നങ്ങളേയും, പ്രതീക്ഷകളേയുമെല്ലാം കോർത്തിണക്കി എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നകവിതകളാണു സുമി വായനക്കാർക്കായി കാഴ്ചവെക്കുന്നത്‌ ....

Sumi has attempted to portray the emotional journey of a woman  through her poems. Poet narrates that all these transformations molded her own existence to find her true self. 

As Sumi wrote,

“The Gray in my hair doesn’t stop me from dreaming...”

Let each and every being find themselves; age should never stop one from dreaming and achieving it. 

I can assure you that this book is going to inspire lots of people who buried their dreams for the sake of their own excuses. If you have the courage and passion to achieve your dreams, everything will fall in place. Please mind that the path to it isn’t easy. It needs lots of hard work and dedication. I know Sumi had such a tough time through out her journey to accomplish her dream. Support of her family, friends and her mentor Nan Witicomb back boned her to attach a golden feather to her crown of achievements.

I can’t sign off my write up without appreciating Anish Nair’s amazing book cover design. His photography gave the life to the book “Finding Myself “. Congrats Anish Nair and Sai Saraswathi, the Girl behind the scenes.

Hereby penning my favorite poem from Sum’s collection;

Never kiss 

lips which are asleep,

watch them in silence....

 ചരിത്രത്തിലെ  വിപ്ലവകരമായ കണ്ടുപിടിത്തങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് സിനിമ. തിരസ്കരണങ്ങളിലൂടെയാണു എല്ലാ മാറ്റങ്ങളേയും ഈ ലോകം സ്വീകരിച്ചിട്ടുളളത്‌. ആദ്യകാലങ്ങളിൽ സിനിമയെന്ന ആശയവുമായി എത്തിയവരെ ജനം സാംസ്കാരികവിരുദ്ധരെന്ന്  മുദ്രകുത്തിയവരിൽ നിന്നും, സിനിമ ലോകം വളർന്നത്‌ മാനവരാശിയുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിലേക്കായിരുന്നു. ആ വളർച്ചയിൽ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സിനിമക്കും ലോക സിനിമക്കും മലയാള സിനിമ നല്‍കിയ സംഭാവനകള്‍ അവർണ്ണനീയമാണു. ലോക പ്രശസ്ത ചലച്ചിത്രകാരന്മാരായ അടൂർ ഗോപാലകൃഷ്ണൻ, ശ്യാമ പ്രസാദ്‌, ഷാജി എൻ. കരുൺ, ഭരതൻ, പി. പദ്മരാജൻ തുടങ്ങിയവരുടെ തലമുറക്ക് ശേഷം ഈയടുത്ത കാലത്താണ് ആ ശ്രേണിയിലേക്ക് ആഗോള സ്വീകാര്യത നേടിയ ചില പുതു തലമുറക്കാരുടെ കടന്നു വരവ്‌. ആ പിൻതുടർച്ചക്കാരിൽ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധേയനായ ഡോൺ പാലത്തറയെന്ന കലാകാരന്റെ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ശ്രദ്ധയാകർഷിച്ച സിനിമ "1956 മധ്യ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ" അഡ്ലൈഡിലെ കലാ-സാഹിത്യ-സാംസ്കാരിക കൂട്ടായ്‌മയായായ "കേളി" 2021, ജൂൺ 11-നു കേളിഹബിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. സമാന്തര സിനിമയേയും, നാടകത്തേയുമൊക്കെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പറ്റം കലാകാരന്മാരാൽ ആ പ്രദർശനം ഏറെ ആകർഷണീയമായി.

ഡോൺ പാലത്തറ, കേരളത്തിലെ മലയോര നാടായ ഇടുക്കിയിൽ ജനനം, പിന്നീട്‌ സിനിമയക്കുറിച്ച്‌ പഠിക്കുവാനായി സിഡ്നിയിൽ. അവിടെ നിന്നും തിരികെ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയ ഡോൺ തന്റെ ആദ്യ സിനിമയായ ശവം 2015-ൽ ട്രാവൻകൂർ ഫിലിം ബാനറിൽപുറത്തിറക്കി. നല്ല സ്വീകാരിത നേടിയ ആ സിനിമക്ക്‌ ശേഷം സന്തോഷത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാംരഹസ്യം, 1956-മധ്യ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ എന്നെ സിനിമകൾ 2020-ൽ മലയാള സിനിമക്ക്‌ സമ്മാനിച്ചു. ഈ രണ്ട്‌ സിനിമകളും ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചാമത്‌ IFFK -യിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കുകയും, അങ്ങനെ ആദ്യമായി ഒരേ സംവിധായകന്റെ രണ്ട്‌ സിനിമകൾ ഒരു അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയിൽ ഇടം പിടിച്ചതും ഡോൺ പാലത്തറയെന്ന കലാകാരന്റെ പ്രസക്തി എടുത്തുകാണിക്കുന്നു. 42 -മത് മോസ്കോ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലചിത്ര മേളയിലും, അഞ്ചാമത്ബ്രിക്‌സ് (BRICS) അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയിലും 1956 മധ്യ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ (1956 Central Travancore) പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചു.

ബ്ലാക്ക്‌ ആൻഡ്‌ വൈറ്റിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട ചലച്ചിത്രം പഴമയുടെ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലേക്ക്‌ കാഴ്ച്ചക്കാരെ കൂട്ടി കൊണ്ടുപോയി. ഭൂപരിഷ്‌കരണത്തിന് മുൻപുളള ഹൈറേഞ്ചിലെ വാമൊഴികഥകളെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണു സിനിമ മുൻപോട്ട്‌ പോകുന്നത്‌. ആ കഥകളൊക്കെ എത്രമാത്രം വിശ്വാസ യോഗ്യമാണെന്നുളള ഒരു സന്ദേഹം സിനിമ ഉയർത്തുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ പോലും, പലരും പലവിധത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞ കഥകളുടെയൊരു വംശാവലിയിൽ നിന്ന് പുതിയ കഥകൾ പിറവിയെടുക്കുന്നുവെന്നൊരു നേർക്കാഴ്ചകൂടിയാണു ഈ സിനിമ. ഇതിലെ കേന്ദ്ര കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ രണ്ട്‌ സഹോദരന്മാർ ആണ്,ഓനനും കോരയും. അവരുടെ കഥയാണു സിനിമയെ മുൻപോട്ട്‌ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത്‌. സാമ്പത്തിക ബാധ്യത മാറ്റുവാൻ കാട്ടു പോത്തിനെ വേട്ടയാടുവാൻ പോകുന്നതിലൂടെയാണു കഥ പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നത്‌.

1903-ല്‍ കൊച്ചീപ്പന്‍ തരകന്‍ രചിച്ച മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ സാമൂഹിക നാടകമായ മറിയാമ്മയിലെ ഒരു രംഗം ഈ സിനിമയിൽ പുനരാവിഷ്‌കരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ആ നാടകത്തിലെ ഗാനമായ "ആഹാ മല്‍പ്രിയ നാഥാ" ബേസില്‍ സി ജെ സംഗീത സംവിധാനം നിര്‍വഹിച്ച്‌, വിജീഷ്ലാല്‍ 'കരിന്തലക്കൂട്ടം' ആലപിച്ച്‌ പഴമയുടെ മനോഹാരിത ഒട്ടും ചോരാതെ അതിമനോഹരമായി ഈ സിനിമയിൽ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ആർട്ട്‌ ബീറ്റ്സ് സ്റ്റുഡിയോയുടെ ബാനറില്‍ അഭിലാഷ് കുമാര്‍ നിര്‍മിച്ച, ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഛായാഗ്രഹണം അലക്‌സ് ജോസഫ് നിര്‍വഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു . കോരയായി ആസിഫ് യോഗി, ഓനനായി ജെയിന്‍ ആന്‍ഡ്രൂസ്  എന്നിവർ പ്രധാന വേഷത്തിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ, ഷോണ്‍ റോമി , കൃഷ്ണന്‍ ബാലകൃഷ്ണന്‍, കനി കുസ്രുതി എന്നിവരും ഈ സിനിമയുടെ ഭാഗമായി. 

നല്ല സിനിമകൾ, എന്നും ഒരു നല്ല സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണു. പുതു തലമുറയിലൂടെ നമ്മുടെ സംസ്കാരവും, അന്തസ്സും ഉയർത്തുവാൻ ഡോൺ പാലത്തറയെപ്പോലുളള കലാകാരന്മാർക്ക്‌ ഇനിയും സാധ്യമാകട്ടെയെന്ന ആശംസയോടൊപ്പം, പ്രവാസ ലോകത്തിൽ നാടിനേയും, നാട്ടിലെ കലകളേയും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കേളിയെപ്പോലെയുളള സംഘടനകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തനത്തേയും അഭിനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.
